As I write, the Brisbane Circus Centre is a hive of activity. Our rigging team are up scissorlift's installing a highwire across the length of the Brisbane Circus Centre and our young artists are in development/rehearsals for our new show - stay tuned for more.
Earlier today our trainers and young artists were part of the Hamilton Ward Family Fun Day at TC Beirne park working with local children and families. Our school holiday programs are in full swing and we're getting ready for Circus School programs to start again next week.
We're also putting together a fundraising campaign for our upcoming Giving Day. On Thurs 23 Oct we'll be asking our community to support Flipside from the grassroots. See more below.

Circus School is Back in Session
Term 4 of Circus School kicks off on Monday 7 October!
Our classes are the perfect place for young people to build skills, confidence, and friendships while discovering the joy of circus. From Circus Play taking their very first steps into the world of circus, to teens and advanced students pushing their limits on trapeze, tumbling, and more — there’s a class for every age and experience level.

Earlier this month, the Brisbane Circus Centre came alive with Circus Weekends — our special showcase of young artists, creativity, and community spirit.
Over two big days, nearly 400 families, friends, and supporters packed the Centre to cheer on performers of all ages. From first-time students showing off their brand-new skills to advanced classes pushing the boundaries of their circus performance skills, every act was met with the warmth the Flipside community is known for.
Circus Weekends is our annual celebration of growth, courage, and connection. It’s the moment our students get to share what they’ve been working on, and the moment our community comes together to support and celebrate them.
We want to thank everyone who came along, lent their voices, and made the weekend such a joyful success. We also want to thank Rebecca for organising the day, our fantastic volunteers, trainers, and staff.
Circus Centre Improvements
We are delighted to share with you that we have recently received a very generous donation of retractable seating from Griffith University. The seating, originally located at Griffith's Mount Gravatt campus, is surplus to the University's requirements.
This means more families can cheer for their kids, more friends can gather to support, and more community members can share in the excitement of every show. We are extremely grateful for Griffith's support and look forward to welcoming our patrons to the enjoy our new seating in the very near future.
A huge shoutout also goes to our friends at The Hippy Chippy, who installed the seating bank. Their history of supporting Flipside makes this improvement feel like a true community effort.
The seating bank made it's debut earlier this month at Circus Weekends. We were thrilled to welcome audiences to enjoy our new and improved performance space!
Open House 2025 – EOIs Open Now!
Open House is an annual program by Vulcana that opens the door for young performers to step on stage. Open to artists up to 20 years old and ensembles with at least one member below the age of 20, this cabaret allows individuals and groups (of any artform) to present works to a friendly audience in a professional environment.
Next performance date 9th November, Expression of Interest due Oct 20th
To apply to perform at the next performance date please fill out the form linked below. Vulcana may not be able to accept all applications due to limited programming spots.
Eligibility:
Individual or majority of group members 20 years old or younger
Max presentation length 8 minutes
Content must be suitable for a general audience and children
Applicants who recently turned 21 will also be considered on a case-by-case basis; email Allie at circus@vulcana.org.au to discuss.
